Next Friday, March 1st, is Read Across America Day and there are many ways to share the love of reading with youth in the Las Vegas Valley!  Check out these opportunities:

“Seussical” Ooblick  with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas at First Friday

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas volunteer program presents a Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration activity and informational booth for First Friday of Las Vegas. The booth’s purpose is to educate the community on ways to become involved with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas as well as be introduced to our arts program. During the First Friday activity families and volunteers will have the ability to create Ooblick in a very “Seussical” science activity, as well as hosting a corner area where volunteers and children will be encouraged to read the stories of Dr.Seuss with a microphone in honor of his birthday month.  Come out and participate in the event at 7:00 pm in the Kids’ Corner First Friday pavilion.

Reading Week Readers at M.J. Christensen Elementary School

Celebrate Reading Week by volunteering at M.J. Christensen Elementary School as a guest reader!  Take a break from your day to volunteer for a 30 minute interval between 9:00-3:00pm during the week.  In those 30 minutes, you’ll help further lifelong learning and the enjoyment of reading with a classroom of students.  Volunteers will read to children in their classes and help count reading tickets.  Click here to see availability and sign up!
